6 weeks in Milan...

It's amazing how it's been 6 weeks that I've been away from Calgary... Initially, the days were going SOOOO slow, but now that I'm looking back I realize that the days are flying by. Although I still think it feels like I've been here longer than 6 weeks. I guess it's because I really feel "at home" instead of a totally new and strange city... Either I just adjust really well to the environment or it's because Milan DOES feel and look like São Paulo. Either way... I do miss my friends and family wherever I am...

A little secret to let out... I actually had enough of Milano... Don't get me wrong, but it's just another big busy city with tons of immigrants. I want to see the real Italy, the countryside, the nature, all the beauty God created!!! Next expedition is in early December; we're heading to Pisa and Florence, maybe Siena if I can convince the others...

I'll write more later... gotta prep for a class now.

Oh, I'm sorry for the delay of the albums and blog. I wanted to have all the albums ready with captions so u know what you're looking at, but then it might take forever to be ready... So, here they are, raw, unedited and unorganized (pics from many people)... more to be linked to this blog. I'll try to write as much as I can...

News from Milanooooooo!

Note written on Oct. 15, 07 - posted first on my Facebook

So, I left Calgary on Wed AM. I was really sick of flying... my feet were swollen from Zurich to Milan... it was soooo hard to sleep... the seats are so small, tight and uncomfortable!!! Didn't even have a big screen in front of me... oh well... I've arrived on Thursday morning, safe and sound, thank God!!

Carlo and Olia, AIESEC Bocconi members, went to pick me up at the airport and I spent 4 nights at Luca's place. Everyone was really nice to me!! I felt like I knew them for the longest time... They made me feel at home! Thanks!!

So, accommodation was a bit of a problem... but I'm finally in my new apt!!I share the apt with 2 Italian guys and share my room with another intern, Michela, from Cleveland, Ohio. It's a cute little place facing the canal, close to a nice crepes place and bars, etc.

I really need and want to learn Italian!! Gotta be fluent soon, so I can talk to people and do everything else on my own without feeling embarrassed... hehe

Milano really looks and feels like Sao Paulo!!! There's a huge misconception that Italians are HOT, that these HOT Italians are everywhere, that Milan is the world's capital of Fashion and everyone is dressed amazingly well. It's unfortunate that there are lots of spray painted walls, garbage everywhere, pollution,... They ARE crazy drivers... There's not such thing as road lines, traffic signs and obeying traffic laws... LOL

LOTS of pizza everywhere. Things are a bit expensive here, especially at touristic places.

No cultural shock for me... at least not yet. I've had some nice pasta made by friends =) but none from the restaurant yet.

Haven't started working yet... Hopefully get training this week and start working next week!! Travel plans not done yet...

Security here is not that bad. Haven't felt like people would rob me or anything... Male harassment is not that bad either... Got a few but not nearly as many manly comments.

Sightseeing - saw some places but very quickly. Will go back for sure...

I got no cel yet, but u can skype me!

I think that's it for now...
Please keep me in your prayers!
Miss y'all!! Stay warm if you're in Canada!!
